Koondrook, located on the Murray River, offers world-class freshwater fishing. Anglers flock here to target native Murray Cod, Golden Perch (Yellowbelly), and Redfin. The area features excellent riverbank access, shaded snags, and peaceful backwaters, making it ideal for both bait fishing and lure casting.

The Koondrook Wharf and Murray River Frontage is an easily accessible, idyllic spot right in town. Perfect for an afternoon cast amongst the red gums while targeting cod and yellas. Walk satright from the park.

Fishing has never been more easier. Throw a line in Gunbower Creek straight from your accommodation. The creek wraps itself around our park making it a quick and easy spot to score a catch.

A 60-kilometre anabranch boasting excellent bank access and structural snags. Upgraded dual fishways have reconnected the creek and Murray River, boosting native fish populations.

• Bait: Scrub worms, yabbies, bardi grubs, and cooked chicken wing.
• Lures: 130mm deep-diving crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and surface lures.
• Technique: Cast your bait or lure tight against timber snags and weed beds, especially during dawn and dusk

• Closed Season: Remember that Murray Cod have a strict closed season statewide from 1 September through 30 November inclusive to allow for breeding.
• Licensing: You must hold a valid Victorian Recreational Fishing Licence, which can be purchased via the Victorian Fisheries Authority.
• Catch Limits: Be sure to check the most current size and bag limits for all native species before casting your line
